Who Am I?
MY APPROACH
As a lawyer I was taught to see divorce as a legal event. Now, I see it as primarily a human event with legal consequences. I believe that the most effective way to work through a family conflict mediation is to help the parties disentangle their emotional needs from their legal interests.
There are many approaches to mediation. I have chosen NVC mediation because it has concrete tools that help me hear the need behind the anger, criticism or blame that people have for each other. By focusing on everyone’s unmet needs, we cut through the misunderstandings, accusations and impasses that are inevitable when negotiation stays on the surface. Conflicts, even of long standing duration, can be resolved this way. NVC mediation creates connection between the parties and mutual commitment of finding strategies that meet everyone’s needs. As a result, agreements made using NVC mediation are more likely to withstand the test of time.
ABOUT ME
I am a family law lawyer, a trained mediator, arbitrator and parenting co-ordinator. Having been formally trained in all these areas of family conflict resolution, none of them have been as formative as my training in Non-Violent Communication (“NVC”).
I earned my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto, School of Law. I was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2009. I studied negotiation at Harvard Business School (HBSO). I completed my mediation, arbitration and parenting co-ordinator training at Riverdale Mediation, Toronto.
I have learned and practiced non-violent communication through the Center for Non-Violent Communication and NVC Mediation at Friere Liv Mediation Center, Sweden.
I am fluent in Hungarian and serve the Hungarian community in Toronto.
